Should the Constitution be amended to state that only individual persons are entitled to its protections?

A referenudm on this issue passed in Vermont this week and similar petitions are being circulated nationwide. (See for example, Occupy Peoria: http://occupypeoria.org/2012/02/11/corporate-personhood-petition-for-peoria-il/ )
So what do we think - is it time to have a Constitutional amendment to end corporate personhood?  Are there other ways this issue could be addressed?
